As you can tell by its name, this wine is made off 100% Barbera grapes. Azienda Agricola Bianchi is from the Piedmont region in Italy. The wine just came out a few weeks ago. I’ve had many different vintages from Bianchi’s Barbera before.
About the 2010 vintage I enjoy that it’s more refreshing than the 2009. Probably because it’s young. On the nose I had a variety of red fruits which reminded me of the fresh raspberries. On the palate I noticed a little acidity followed by a smooth short to medium finish. In general the wine felt really light and I had no alcohol notes on the palate which in general is a good quality sign in my opinion. Alcohol by volume was labeled at 13%. The color goes into a ruby-red.
The 2010 Barbera from Azienda Agricola Bianchi can be served together with appetizers of all kind, pasta & risotto dishes and with certain types of meat.
It retails for 7-9€ which is a good price for this organic wine. Bianchi’s 2010 Barbera is recommended.
