Azienda Agricola Cà dei Frati is an Italian winery from the Veneto region. In the Lugana area (near Lake Garda) they produce eight wines and Grappa. I Frati is classified as a Lugana DOC. The wine is manufactured with 100% Turbiana grapes. A local grape that is mostly found around Sirmione and nearby towns. The wine aged in stainless steel tanks for six months.
Prior to tasting the wine was chilled.
On the palate I Frati was fruity and mineralic. A very smooth wine with a bit of acidity. The finish was medium and very persistently. I found the wine to be a real pleasure! The wine guide Veronelli awarded I Frati 2/3 stars and the Gambero Rosso awarded it with 2 “bicchieri” (glasses).
It’s a light wine that you can drink without actually dining. Pasta, white meat and fish would go well with it though.
Please note that the bottle label is from 2010 (it hasn’t changed though).
I Frati from Azienda Agricola Cà dei Frati retails for 10-13€. It’s outstanding in its price-class and in general a very good white wine which is highly recommended.
