A few months ago, I filled out and mailed in my application form to become a member of the Wine Century Club. Today is a good day because I received my membership certificate!
Membership in the Wine Century Club is free. If you would like to became a member yourself then all you have to do is fill out the application form, which you can download here. Currently the club has more than 1375 members from all over the world and is headquartered in New York. It was founded in 2005. The Club has twelve chapters (two outside of the US) that regularly meet to try new wines and experience rare, obscure varieties and that is what the Wine Century Club is all about: Consuming and promoting unknown grape varieties.
Currently I am working on becoming a ‘Doppel’ member. Next to the regular membership there are four more levels: Doppel (200), Treble (300), Quattro (400) and Pentavini (500). Let’s take a closer look at some less known varieties that helped me achieve the required 100 tasted grape varieties for my Wine Century Club membership: Albana, Bastardo Negro, Bonarda, Bovale Sardo, Colorino, Dandinella, Erbaluce, Girò, Minnella, Nasco, Negramoll, Pascale, Pignoletto, Pugnitello, Retico, Tintilla & Vespolina.
Why don’t you start your own journey? I received my certificate after a little more than three months and don’t worry if the Club does not reply to your application.
Now it’s time to open a celebration bottle! Salute!
